Oregon: Portland's gun control idea misses target
Portland Mayor Sam Adams has proposed a number of ill conceived gun control ordinances, most straight out of the gun ban lobby's play book.
Among these is an ordinance requiring gun owners to report the loss or theft of their firearms within 48 hours of when the owner knew or "should have known" the gun was missing.

About 30 people who showed up at the Midway Town Council meeting Tuesday evening spoke out against a proposed change to the town's current gun law.
The town is considering an ordinance that would ban people from shooting a gun within the town limits.

Philippines: Comelec wants gun ban during elections
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) wants a gun ban imposed during the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Oct. 25.
Speaking to reporters, Comelec Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal said they will recommend a gun ban during a meeting with police, military and Department of Education (DepEd) officials.

San Francisco: Groups mobilize to deny permit to gun store
San Francisco's only gun store could lose its permit to sell guns at a hearing today.
Steven Alcairo, 36, a San Francisco native and Mission District resident, will ask the Police Department to reinstate a use permit that lapsed in January because the gun store's owner was planning to convert it to office space.

Texas: Carrollton City Council debates gun shops
Guns took center stage at Tuesday evening's City Council meeting.
Specifically, they talked about Big Slim's Firearms, which upset some residents when it opened last week across the street from houses and in the same mini mall as a liquor store.
Council member Terry Simons proposed a new ordinance -- to be discussed at a future meeting -- that would restrict future gun shops from opening near liquor stores and certain other retail establishments.

Venezuela to introduce new rules on gun ownership
The National Assembly will pass a law in the next few days that will prohibit anyone from carrying weapons in public, ban those younger than 25 from owning a gun, and limit the number of bullets a person can carry to 25. Venezuela's current gun laws date back to 1928. The National Assembly is controlled by Socialist allies of leftist President Hugo Chavez.
