Turkish Model 1903 Converted to 8mm Mauser by the Turks. Often called a 1903/38 in America. These are intermediate length actions and a bitshorter than the standard 7.92, 98 action. This is a large ring smallshank (LRSSM) cock on opening rifle. Barrel is 29", with a high humpreceiver for the unique strippers of the day. Straight bolt handlewith a tear drop shape. Pistol grip stock. This rifle is marked withTurkish Crescent and Star on receiver,with the latters TC above andASFA below and the Ankara below that. The receiver is dated 1932 whichwould be the year it was converted to 8mm not the year of manufacture. This rifle is non matching anywhere except rear sight and sightelevator match themselves. Metal finish is grey, wood is very good,has some handling marks and one 2" compression on buttstock. Bore isbright and Excellent. Includes an all brass cleaning rod, it is bentand beat up and I dont know if this is original but it definatleylooks like it. This should be a very good shooter and also collectibleas it is in original 1903 configuration other then the caliber. |
